Sit down with the party child and decide together who to invite. Don't forget to invite friends from school, not necessarily the whole class, club friends and family. Around 20 is an ideal number for a kids birthday party disco. We can, however, cope with has many has you like. Try to keep the ages of the children, give or take a year, the same. The entertainment can then be geared around that age group. There is a vast difference to what a 4 year old likes to a 12 year old. Chose a date: A weekend or better still a weekday, much more chance of availability and less hectic. Try to be flexible with the date and timing. Check my availability: What dates and times are available. Chose a time offered, Ideally parties should be 2 hours long. Times can be varied slightly, or extended, subject to other bookings on the day. Chose a venue: Ask my advice on somewhere suitable. The smaller the better, with a kitchen is ideal. If a birthday party avoid pub function rooms if possible. The right venue can add to the perfect party. If a two hour party book the venue for a minimum of 3 hours. Chose a theme: Not absolutely necessary, however, children love dressing up and it can add a lot fun to the party. Prizes can be awarded if desired. 14 days to go Post your invites, not forgetting to ask parents to reply if they are, or are not, attending. Ask known parents of children to assist at the party. 3 days to go Choose a cake, supermarkets and bakeries have a wide range in range of themes. You can buy co-ordinating plates, beakers and napkins. Buy goody bags and fillings, also any decorations you want to decorate the venue with. 24 hours to go Collect the cake, don't forget the candles. If food can be prepared this is an ideal time to do it. Ask our advice on what to give the kids, It saves food ending up in the bin. Buy some drinks and nibbles for the adult helpers. Make sure you have a film for the camera. Don't forget matches or a lighter. Make up goody bags. THE BIG DAY ! Your child can't wait for Russ or Malcolm to turn up Make up the remainder of the party food. Check that the venue is safe, there is nothing the party kids can hurt themselves on. Decorate the room with balloons and banners, however, do not place balloons on the floor, this is a nightmare for any entertainer. Set up the buffet table, ideally in the same room as the disco, unlike others we entertain the kids while they are eating. Set up a table, near the entrance of the room, for presents to be opened after the party. Clear all surplus chairs and tables. Don't forget to keep the camera snapping, try not to take too many posed shots, surprise pictures bring out the best in children. We will discuss with you before the party starts the best arrangements for the smooth flowing of the party.
